pite.com now certified for SEC
Thursday, 20 May 2010 07:14

Absilion sends congratulations to PiteEnergi, whose metropolitan network pite.com now has been certified by Absilion as complying to the industry's own standard called "secure customer connection", SEC.

- We think that secure customer connections is equally important as great capacity and performance. High security is a prerequisite for good quality, says Johan Nilsson, metro network manager at PiteEnergi.

For customers that are connected to a broadband network to be certain that their services do not fall into the wrong hands, it is required that the network is built correctly and that the equipment is configured correctly. In addition, it is often desirable that the network operator can trace unwanted traffic. This assumes that the correct security features are used by the network.

- The requirements for being certified are high and it is pleasing to note that PiteEnergi's network complies with those requirements, says Mats Nordlund, CEO at Absilion.

Absilion's ambition is to continue to carry out certification of metro networks in the rest of the country to create a more secure infrastructure in Sweden.

Thumbs up for Netrounds in TechWorld magazine
Wednesday, 28 April 2010 10:11

An independent review of Netrounds is performed in the April issue of TechWorld Magazine. The judgment is "thumbs up", which makes us at Absilion even more proud.

Among other things, the test editor at TechWorld concludes that:

"...the tool does not require you to be a test engineer, nor that your IT budget will be blown away..." and "...easy to use, it has high usability with a good administration interface and easy configuration".

We hope that the newspaper article is made available at TechWorld's website soon. Until then, get your copy (in swedish) at your nearest store.

SEC certification change
Monday, 15 March 2010 21:16
In November the requirement that all operators in a metro network must validate DNSSEC for .se, in order to become SEC certified, was introduced.

It proved difficult, leading to the following changes in order to accelerate towards the objective of a secure Internet-infrastructure in Sweden:

* Absilion and Interlan establish a list of approved operators that validate DNSSEC based on SEC certifications.

* In each customer portal or equivalent, a SEC certified metro network must refer to this list of approved operators.

* Approved operators are allowed to use the DNSSEC logo on its website and in their campaigns in the SEC certified network.

* New operators to deliver Internet services in a SEC certified metro network must validate DNSSEC.

* For a network with only one operator, the requirement on DNSSEC remains.

* 2011-03-01 the validation of DNSSEC will be required for all operators again.
