Tests supported in Netrounds |
|
|
Different customers, different needs. That's why Netrounds supports a selection of tests divided into different test packages. Depending on your needs, you select the desired packages. Absilion is continuously developing new relevant tests to ensure that you always will be updated with the latest features. New tests within a test package is included in the subscription fee. Below is an overview of the packages supported by Netrounds currently: Test package
| Performance | | Description | Testing the performance of the network with a number of different test scenarios. The tests are run between two or more probes. | | Type of tests | -
One-way UDP or TCP flows (unidirectional) -
Two-way UDP or TCP streams (bidirectional) -
Speech quality (MOS) for IP telephony, with speech codecs G.711 and G.729 -
Video conferencing

Test package
| IPTV MPEG Monitoring | | Description | Measures the quality of IPTV channels in your network | | Type of tests | - A central probe can can be appointed "reference probe" typically located where IPTV is delivered into your network. Netrounds measures differences between the reference probe and client probes, which quickly visualizes any problems that occur in your network.
- The implementation follows ETSI TR 101 290, Measurement guidelines for DVB systems
- All priority 1 parameters are monitored, as well as jitter, bandwidth and packet loss
- Each G100-prob manages approximately 60 Mbit/s of IPTV
- For each test the result is evaluated and the test is approved or failed
- Email and SNMP traps are possible for a failed test
- Alarms can also be sent during ongoing test

Test package
| Access Security
| | Description | Visualize the network's ability to offer customers a secure connection to the broadband network. The tests are run between two or three probes. | Type of tests
| -
Rogue DHCP server (a customer claims to be the network's DHCP server), tested for both IPv4 and IPv6 -
Block after "DHCP lease expiry" -
DHCP option-82 for traceability -
UPnP blocking -
IPv6 router advertisement -
ARP / MAC / IP spoofing See also the recommendation from the Swedish Urban Network Association, Secure End User Connection

Test package
| Triple Play Monitoring
| | Description | Test and monitors the network's impact on triple-play services. If a monitoring test fails, the test server could send an e-mail notification including information about the failed test. In this test package one of the probes acts IPTV playout, which makes it suitable also for pre analysis of the networks´ability to deliver IPTV before IPTV is introduced. | | Type of tests | Best Effort UDP (BE) BE + IP telephony
BE + IP telephony + IPTV

| Test package | Multicast | | Description | Tests that the network has correct features for IPTV distribution and general multicast characteristics. In this test package one of the probes acts IPTV playout, which makes it suitable also for pre analysis of the networks´multicast characteristics before IPTV is introduced. | | Type of tests | -
Check that required basic functions are activated -
Measurement of channel zapping times -
Tests of leakage to unsolicited ports during channel zapping -
Stress testing of the network during high IGMP traffic (many rapid channel changes)

| Test package | Transparency | | Description | Tests that the network is transparent to all kinds of layer-2 traffic. Traffic is sent point to point between two probes. 30 different protocols are tested that they are not blocked by the network, and that the header information does not change. | | Type of tests | -
More than 30 different ethertypes tested -
Tests of different VLAN ID and p-bits -
Q-in-Q -
LLC / SNAP -
Generation of traffic to multiple ranges of different multicast addresses, both IP and MPLS -
Verification that the IP header (TOS / DSCP) is intact -
Verification that the VLAN header (VLAN ID, and p-bits) is intact

| Test package | Secure end-user connection with IPv6 | | Description | Visualize the network's ability to offer customers a secure connection to the broadband network when IPv6 is used in a shared broadcast domain. | | Type of tests | |
